1 Mandatory Gateway Course

  • An airport that is interested in hosting a face-to-face/in-person gateway course may request information on the requirements by writing to: [email protected]

The “gateway” mandatory course is delivered over five consecutive days.  Full day, in-class sessions with the instructors include one individual, one group assignment, and one final exam. Candidates must be present 100% to keep up with the course. Late arrival and early departure are disallowed.

3 Mandatory Courses (Online Only)

Discount applicable when 5+ participants from the same organization register for the same course delivery.

Three (3) of the four (4) AMPAP mandatory courses are delivered online over 4 consecutive weeks. The blended-learning instruction features instructors who deliver content once weekly in a synchronous and interactive virtual learning environment via the AMPAP course portal. There are also self-paced weekly readings, one individual assignment, one group assignment, and one final exam to complete. This method facilitates candidates to keep up with their on-the-job responsibilities.

The online mandatory courses may be taken in any order.

Course descriptions

Air Transport System (classroom/face-to-face)

The overall objective of this course is to provide airport executives with a broad understanding of global air transportation as a system from an airport professional’s viewpoint. The course addresses the public regime and private industry structure as well as major contemporary issues and challenges that confront the various stakeholders in the aviation industry, more specifically, airport professionals.

Structure: 5 consecutive days, full time, in-class/virtual, including 1 individual assignment, 1 group assignment/presentation, and 1 final exam

Cost: AMPAP Registration (275 USD) + 1 mandatory course fee (2675 USD) = 2950 USD

Airport Operations, Safety and Security (online)

The overall objective of this course is to improve the knowledge of airport executives about contemporary best practices in the areas of safe, secure and efficient movement of aircraft, passengers, baggage and cargo/mail. The course also focuses on transferring strategies to enable airport executives to provide a consistent level of service that conforms with global standards and best practices identified by ACI, ICAO, and recognized stakeholders.

Structure: 4 weeks, asynchronous learning, online, including 4 online sessions to attend each Monday (1 hour duration), 1 individual assignment, 1 group assignment, and 1 final exam.

Cost: 1 mandatory course fee = 2675 USD

Airport Commercial and Financial Management (online)

The overall objective of this course is to improve the knowledge of airport executives about contemporary best practices in the areas of airport commercial and financial management. The course emphasizes ways of optimizing airport revenues and controlling costs and the importance of aligning commercial development activities and financial performance management systems against the overall corporate strategic business planning focus. ICAO policies regarding the principles and processes for setting user charges are presented and related implementation considerations are discussed.

Structure: 4 weeks, asynchronous online learning, including 4 online sessions to attend each Monday (1 hour duration), 1 individual assignment, 1 group assignment, and 1 final exam.

Cost: 1 mandatory course fee = 2675 USD

Airport Planning, Development and Environmental Management (online)

The overall objective of this course is to improve the knowledge of airport executives about contemporary best practices in the area of airport infrastructure planning and development, and ways to optimize an airport’s facilities that are consistent with the objectives and orientations set out in an airport’s Strategic Business Plan.

Structure: 4 weeks, asynchronous online, including 4 online sessions to attend each Monday (1 hour), 1 individual assignment, 1 group assignment, and 1 final exam

Cost: 1 mandatory course fee = 2675 USD
